“The Works” is an entirely student-run, non-profit magazine of Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) that features literary and visual pieces of art from students, and provides information about upcoming student events. We provide free magazines as a service to our school and the community, and as a way of raising awareness about LACHSA. Anyone, regardless of age or school, can submit their work of any kind to be published in The Works. This includes anything that can be put on paper, such as short stories, poems, scripts, essays, articles, commentaries, drawings, comics, sketches, collages, illustrations, or photographs. The Works also seeks to pair writers with artists by having visual artists illustrate stories, or by having writers draw inspiration from illustrations. We cover our expenses through our fundraisers, the sale of Works merchandise, advertisements, and through small private donations by our readers. If you like what you see and would like to continue to see more issues, consider supporting the magazine in some way.
This is the online version of the magazine. You can thank Erika Nakagawa for making this possible.
The Works is currently looking for people who are willing to donate a few hours each week to the production of the magazine. If this interests you, let us know. If you would like to submit material to The Works, if you’d like to place an advertisement, or if you would like a paper copy of any of the issues, you can reach us at lachsatheworks@gmail.com
Enjoy!
